Hello everyone! I'm going to Sweden as an exchange student in eighteen days.
How did this happen?
Well, for years, ever since I first heard about exchange students, I've wanted to go to Sweden. I'm half Swedish, and have been learning the language for about eight and a half years now. I want to become fluent, so I'm going to Sweden.
Anyway, around November/December last year, I finally asked my parents when we were going to organise the exchange. Mum says that it was completely out of the blue, but I don't think so. Anyway, one day we had a day off school (I think it was the Friday after school camp), so it was just me and Pappa home (Pappa was a house husband then). I spent the day looking up exchange companies, and told Pappa about it. He said they all looked very similar, so I could just choose one. I chose WEP.
We printed off the application form, and I started filling it out. This process took the whole of the summer holidays. (I had asked Pappa if I should go for a half or a whole year. He didn't care, but Mum said she couldn't bear it if I was gone that long). Anyway, with a couple of weeks left of the summer holidays, I asked my parents to sign their bits and to write their letter to my host family.
Mum has said that she was kind of shocked. She hadn't expected me to actually organise it all myself, and had actually sort of forgotten about it herself. They did their bit, sent it off to the company, and we waited.
